Executive Board
Emily Siegler / President

Hello new and returning RSSers! My name is Emily Siegler, and I知 thrilled to be your 2016-17 RSS President. I am a third year Biochemistry major planning to pursue medical school after graduation, but also planning to embrace and enjoy every second of my two years left at UCLA. This past year I served as the RSS Outreach director, and the year prior, I was an eager, overly involved first year RSSer. RSS has played a great role in my experience at UCLA, leading me to the best friendships, incredible leadership opportunities, and endless academic mentorship. Hopefully, our society will be able to provide the same for you this year, whether you are just getting started as a Bruin or are approaching graduation! Outside of RSS, I work in a microbiology lab studying the microbiome and its role in serotonin production, as well as for the College of Academic Counseling as an ASK Peer Counselor. I spent the last two summers working as a New Student Advisor, and also volunteer at Ronald Reagan Hospital. Welcome to the RSS Family!

Hi everyone! My name is Krishna Kandala, and I'm a second year Human Biology and Society major, proud to be serving as your Educational Programs Director for the upcoming school year! Last year, I served as an OSP Coordinator and helped run SPIEL. I can't wait to be further involved and hopefully work with some of you incoming students this year to make RSS a great experience for everyone! Other activities I've done include working at UCLA's Cardiovascular Research Unit as an undergraduate researcher, being a part of MESH, and dancing for UCLA Nashaa! Outside of that, you'll probably find me hitting the gym, using up my 19P meal plan, or desperately trying to keep my snapchat streaks alive instead of studying. Can't wait to meet you all!

Lauren Su / Alumni Relations and Inter-UC Liaison

Hello Regents Scholars! My name is Lauren Su and I知 a second year Human Biology & Society major. This year I値l be your Alumni Relations and Inter-UC Liaison (ARL for short). My job is to connect current Regents Scholars to our amazing alumni network and foster relations between the other UC scholar societies. Every year we plan a variety of fun events such as the Cal-UCLA tailgate, RSS Alumni Mixer, and a trip to the San Diego Zoo to hang out with the UCSD scholar society. This upcoming year is extra special because UCLA is hosting the Inter-UC Conference, a huge event through which Regents Scholars from all the UC scholar societies get together for a weekend of awesome workshops, networking, and other fun activities! Outside of RSS I知 involved with the Care Extenders Program and I知 part of the committee that plans the Bruin Run/Walk 5K that raises money for Mattel Children痴 Hospital at UCLA. LAMP Director / Joshua Blum

Hey everybody! I知 Joshua, a second year Chemistry major hoping to double major in MIMG, and I知 thrilled to be your LAMP Director this year. In case you don稚 know, LAMP is the acronym for Regent Scholars Society痴 鏑os Angeles Mentorship Program, which is RSS痴 scholastic service endeavor at University High School. Through AVID tutoring, presentations, and test preparation, LAMP seeks to ensure that these inner city students have a better chance of entering college and leading successful lives. I always believe that it is best to lead by example, and as such, I will continue to help coordinate and participate directly in the AVID portion of LAMP while also ensuring that the other branches receive proper maintenance and assistance. In addition to LAMP, I also am a volunteer at the Ronald Reagan Medical Center under their Measuring to Achieve Patient Safety (MAPS) program, furthering my proclivity for organizations with four-letter acronyms. Aside from that, I am a human being who is interested in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. If I知 not fulfilling my responsibilities, you may find me writing mythos for a novel I hope to finish within the next three years, listening to political commentary and satire, experimenting with stringed instruments, or attempting to learn new languages with minimal resources. I see a bright future ahead for RSS, and I hope to provide any assistance that I can in its ascension. I look forward to meeting all of you and being in the very least a friendly face you can feel comfortable around!

Anika Mahavni / Community Service Director

Hi everyone! I am Anika Mahavni, and I知 very excited to serve as your Community Service Director this year. Local outreach has always been near and dear to my heart, and I知 hoping that I can (with all of your help) add a strong and enjoyable service aspect to the Society. A little bit about me: I知 a second-year Biology major hoping to minor in Spanish. I am currently participating in otolaryngology research on bacterial meningitis, and I壇 like to study physics abroad in Dublin this coming summer. Outside of RSS, I write for Humans of UCLA (modeled after Humans of New York) and volunteer at a free medical clinic in a border town near Tijuana. In my free time, I love being outdoors, camping, hiking, and biking, but because LA is really into the hipster coffee shop thing, I致e learned to love that as well. I am also fortunate enough to have traveled to many different and exciting places around the world, and I love sharing my experiences with other world-travelers. I can稚 wait to meet all of the incoming members! Welcome to RSS, and cheers to a wonderful year!
